This is an undated recording, made in the 80's or 90's of Beatrice Manley reading Bertolt Brecht's Mother Courage. (Manley played the role of Courage in the San Francisco Actor's Workshop American premiere directed by Herbert Blau, 1956.)

Manley did numerous readings for small audiences, sometimes in her studio apartment in Silverlake and sometimes at parties hosted by friends like literary critic Marjorie Perloff.

More on Bertolt Brecht's Mother Courage.
